Sunshine Tip return to the Merri Creek Tavern for a Monday night special. With folk duo Salvation Jane opening, it’ll be a beautiful night of local, original music making

NOTE DATE CHANGE! Sunshine Tip bring their unique, grounded take on alternative country to the Espy Basement. Dave Bowers, Alice Garner, Dee Hannan and Al Barden throw voices, guitar, cello, mandolin and drums together to trawl the depths of human experience. This is locally-rooted music played by performers who draw on a rich and varied history, ranging from alternative country, rock, jazz and lounge, to Greek and Irish traditions. Opening the night is pianist John McAll, teasing magic from the ebony and ivory in a solo set as well as jumping up for a few Sunshine Tip tunes. A fearless music explorer, John has played with many greats of jazz, rock and cabaret and brings a unique style, sensitivity and humour to his performances.

Sunshine Tip return to Kindred Bandroom for a free Thursday lunchtime gig, this time in their quartet lineup. What's better than a daytime gig with great sound and an audience that listens closely? It doesn't get much better than this.

Sunshine Tip bring their sweet and edgy alternative country to an evening of live music by Care, Dana Mitchell and headliners Hercules and the Bricks, who describe themselves as 'the most miserable rock and roll band.' Sunshine Tip has also shared around a good measure of misery in their songs, but the longer they stick around, the more ridiculously and unwarrantedly good-humoured and energetic they become.

The Droptails’ sound is an eclectic mix of indie rock, twang and power pop, and the lyrics move from the personal, through your neighbourhood to the globally political and back again. They released their second album, ‘Through Road,’ in February 2026.

The Droptails are old friends from Melbourne’s legendary 1980s indie music scene, including members of the Huxton Creepers, Cracked Jaffas, and Penthouse Paupers.

Kicking off the afternoon are Sunshine Tip, an acoustic quartet channelling a locally-rooted sensibility and stories through Americana sounds, on guitar, cello, mandolin and drums.

Sunshine Tip are delighted to return to the one and only Bridge Hotel in Castlemaine to ply their melodic alt-country musical wares. Free entry.
